To me, the in-restaurant drug testing incident is so lacking in respect that it belongs in a completely different category using another vocabulary: sadism, voyeurism, perversity, exploitation, freak show.

The underlying hypocrisy is outrageous. The idea that cyclists are robbed of dignity in this fashion – as the system struggles for effectiveness and while true offenders in other sports are treated leniently – is outrageous.

This abuse on the human level is inexcusable. It will not bring about reform.

Beautifully said indeed.

It is these reasons, among many, that I hold Chechu in such high regard and esteem. He’s a gentlemen among men, a kind soul among humans. I regard him as a hero though I am sure he would kindly disagree, given his grace and humble nature.

I am thankful for someone like Chechu who proves that a whisper shouts his measure as a cyclist, a competitor and teammate.

Most of all, it is his kindness that speaks to me and for that, he has my undying admiration and respect.

Financial matters are depressing all over the world. I hoped naively that since Kazakhstan was so strong, they wouldn’t be hard hit by the crisis.

To me, being an Astana fan includes a sincere wish for Kazakh people to be well and happy. How wonderful to have the team as a source of national pride.

Hey, maybe Barack Obama will work on a cycling bailout…

It was really nervous week!
From one side – it was clear order of the president to all national companies to cut all bonuses and secondary expenses. From another – Astana is a matter of prestige for Kazakhstan.
So – when the president in China with official vizit it was quite hard to solve a problem quickly

One more thing I want to ad. I was driving home from work as a couple of stages were coming to an end. I was anxious to know what was happening, so I had twitter on my blackberry and was to read updates from JB. How cool is that to be driving in my car half a world away and read race updates from JB riding in the team car.
